Research and Development
Our research involves 5+ professors and 10+ students across the faculties of mathematics, engineering, and science in various capacities. We have thus far raised 700k+ CAD to accelerate cultivated meat (particularly fish) development- supported by the Good Food Institute, New Harvest, and Mitacs. Our initiatives include:
Multi-omic profiling for cultivated fish cell line development and optimization
Evaluating the public health implications of the emergence alternative proteins on our global food systems, including within food safety, antimicrobial resistance burden, and zoonotic/infectious disease (TBA)
Broadly, we are interested in executing on interdisciplinary, open access work that will maximally accelerate the adoption of alternative proteins. We’re always looking for ambitious, enthusiastic, and creative students to join, and to forge exciting collaborations with other initiatives. If you’re interested please email Rikard Saqe!
